Understanding Personal Watercraft Insurance
It’s essential to have financial protection whether you’re in the water or on land. A standard Personal Watercraft Insurance policy covers injuries and damages to the other party if you’re in an accident that you caused. However, any injuries or damages you incur will not be included unless you have added Collision and Comprehensive coverage to your policy.
For additional peace of mind while you’re on the water, consider Total Loss Replacement and Uninsured Watercraft Coverage, as well.
Types of Personal Watercraft Insurance Coverages
This covers the physical injury to the person of a Third Party. This includes sickness, disease, pain and suffering, emotional distress, loss of income and even death.
This coverage pays for damage or destruction including loss of use of a Third Party's property. Reduction in value is the measure of property damage.
Collision coverage pays for damages upon impact with another vehicle, object or person outside the vehicle, and the upset (overturning) of such vehicle. This coverage is often subject to a deductible.
Comprehensive coverage pays for direct and accidental damage to the insured's vehicle other than that caused by a collision. All losses not specifically excluded are covered and such coverage is usually subject to a deductible.
This coverage replaces total losses with the latest model (new-for-old) or, if not available, a comparable replacement.
Uninsured Personal Watercraft Bodily Injury Coverage pays for medical treatment, wage loss and other damages sustained as a result of a personal watercraft accident where the liable boater does not have liability coverage.
Disappearing Deductibles provides a reduction of 25% in Comprehensive and Collision deductibles for each claim-free renewal period.
The Actual Cash Value is determined by the market value, age and condition of the personal watercraft at the time of the loss.
